Scholarship

In order to make the school more accessible to all strata of society, the Board of Education established a scholarship fund and reduced fee programme which is supported through various sources within and outside of Tonga. The Board of Education appoints a Scholarships Committee to assess all applications for eligibility. Any applications must be accompanied by appropriate verification as detailed by the Scholarships Committee. The scholarships/reduced fees granted are valid for 12 months and parents must reapply before the end of the school year. At present approximately 40% of the students receive scholarship or reduced fees.

With this programme we are able to cater for children from any financial background and status. Our student body includes children from Royal Family, Nobility, Ministers, farmers and fishermen.

The Ocean of Light is registered as a non-profitable organization under Charitable Trust Act 1993. Any contribution to our Scholarship Fund is managed by the Board of Education.

There are several ways to support the Scholarship Programme:

Sponsoring a child at annual cost of US$ 1,200.00.
Sponsoring a reduced fee student at annual cost of US$ 900.00.
To contribute any amount to Scholarship Pool which support all the students under scholarship.
